Ride Sharing Services Apps Owners to Pay VAT

SRO has the revenue collecting authority which said the ride-sharing service does not enjoy the VAT exemption as they are not included in the second schedule of the VAT Law 1991.

The government has decided to slap five percent VAT on the ride-sharing services of the country as they are running authorities earning of the app.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has issued an SRO.

SRO has the revenue collecting authority which said the ride-sharing service does not enjoy the VAT exemption as they are not included in the second schedule of the VAT Law 1991.

As mentioned in the second schedule of the VAT Law 1991 the earning of the ride is VAT free, but the share that the app authorities earn from the riders is VAT payable.

The SRO reads, The app-running authorities have to pay five percent on their earnings.
