The Department of International Trade Promotion of the commerce ministry and the Thai embassy in Dhaka has organized the event together, titled Thailand Week 2018.
Tofail Ahmed, Commerce Minister of Bangladesh has decided to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with Thailand to empower trade with the Southeast Asian nation.
The commerce Minister spoke at the inaugural session of a four-day fair of Thai products at Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel.

Ahmed said Bangladesh is enjoying duty-free benefit for exporting around 7,000 products to Thai market.
He also said Bangladesh needed the same benefit for jute and apparel items as well by adding that bilateral trade that now stands at around $2 billion.
The minister talked about visa issues, though a lot of Bangladeshis travel to Thailand for business and tourism purposes, the visa regime is complex; he insisted that the Thai embassy should address the issue.
45 Thai companies and 27 Bangladeshi firms who are agents of the Thai companies or import Thai products have participated in the exhibition.
The products on display include auto parts, industrial equipment, hardware, fruits, food and beverage, house ware, garments, jewellery and footwear.
The fair open at 11am onwards till 10pm.
